70 Gifts

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Jeremiah 29:11

This post is going to be slightly different.

It will be just one picture, but a list of ten things underneath it.

The picture is me with my new student id card from Mississippi State where I will be attending school in the fall.

It has been an adventure the past few years, and I am so thankful for the opportunities God has given to me.

I am so excited to see what lies ahead, and already thankful for this new journey in life.

Let a new adventure begin.
1. The immense kindness exhibited on campus.
2.Opportunities to achieve my dream of becoming an OT.
3. Amazing Christian Student Center
4. Christian Roommates.
5. Successfully getting all the classes I needed.
7. Beautiful gym to workout at.
8. Creating new friendships.
9. Graduating early (fingers crossed).
10. New experiences to help me grow and to become a better me.

I know it is different, but while driving home I realized I had been waiting for that visit to MSU for a very long time.

"Grow where you are planted" my friend always says that.

I can't wait to start growing even more at my new home.

Quick Guide to Yellowstone National Park

I miss the mountains, already.

It has been maybe two weeks and I am longing to go back.
I have decided that I will probably just have to live out West eventually.
Who knows?

I want to talk more in detail about my trip.
It was a super quick trip, but I want to tell you about the best places to go and do in Yellowstone.

First, Yellowstone National Park is the best place to take a family.
It gets you outdoors and really brings the family together.
No cell phone coverage, wifi or other distractions are what some families are really looking for in a vacation.

My family and I stayed at Roosevelt Lodge. It has cute little cabins, and a nice big cabin where you can eat and a little gift shop. No bathrooms in the cabins, but nice restrooms are provided outside (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and all). They really are nice I promise.

Roosevelt is right by Lamar Valley where my family spends most of our time, mostly because my brother (and dad) love to look for wildlife and there is great hiking (which I love).
If you want to spot wolves, bison, elk, pronghorn, coyotes, mountain goats, bears… Lamar Valley is the place to go.
The wildlife really moves around each year, so you really can see these animals anywhere in the park, but this valley is where we have had the greatest luck.

Make sure you ask the rangers where animals have been spotted and which trails to hike.

The weather is crazy in Yellowstone. It can be snowing one day and hot the next, so make sure you come fully prepared. July is usually more consistent with it's weather.

The geysers are the most famous thing about Yellowstone. Old Faithful is a must visit. I would spend all day there cause there are some really great features in the area. If you can stay at the lodge, that would be even better. Any reservation, whether at Mammoth (another favorite and nice place), Lake Yellowstone, Roosevelt or Old Faithful Lodge you MUST make reservations in a year advance.

My dad makes our reservations for the next year when we get back from our trip.

Crazy, I know.

Food is expensive. My family does a "one meal a day" type thing and just snack on power bars during the day. There are lots of general stores where you can buy food supplies also.
Gift shops are at the lodges, and they have some really nice things to get for your friends and family.

June, it can snow or be hot.
July is a little better at being consistent.
My family drives, so we can pile the car with coats, mittens, hats, hiking boots and not have to worry.
I personally would bring a jacket anyways, cause it does get cold at night.
June is a lot less crowded than July, so I would keep that in mind also.

My family tries to come up with an itinerary for each day.
Yellowstone is a huge park and driving to different places can take a while and gas is expensive.
Try to connect your driving and staying at different places a long the way.
I am not sure about all the prices, but I know Roosevelt was $84 a night, which isn't too bad.

If you have never been before, I encourage you to go!
Yellowstone is one of those places that I know your family would treasure in their memories for a very long time!

Becoming Art

I recently just finished a wonderful book called A Million Little Ways

It is a book about following your dreams, and becoming the masterpiece that God created you to be.

"Art is what happens when you dare to be who you really are. You have the power to influence, to move, to make, to become"

Being me and simply me is all God asks me to do.

He created me, didn't He?

He created in me longings and dreams.

"My art is a gift meant to point away from myself and toward the God who gave it."

Each one of us has a special gift.
Many times we have more than one.

How are we using those gifts?

Do we hide them, do we try to forget about them or are we using them?

This book encouraged me to take notice of those gifts and to chase after them.
To fully use them for God's glory.

To create beautiful art in this world.

Do the things that scare you, that bring you to tears and that you love.

Those feelings were put there for a reason.

Just a million little ways to show God to others.

Go chase your dreams, dreamer.

Home Away from Home

I really can't contain my excitement.

It has been two years.

Two whole years since I have been to one of my most favorite places in the entire world.

Yellowstone National Park.

The mountains, the wild life-- the mere beauty of it all just sweeps you away.

I want to share my experience with you.

Stay tuned.
